Growing Pains

What are they?

Simply muscle aches due to intense childhood activities that can wear your child's muscles out. These activities include running, jumping, and climbing. Like the muscles are trying to keep up with the activity of the kid, the kid is outgrowing their muscles for a moment in time.

Do plants have growing pains?

They don’t have pain receptors, nerve endings or a brain. According to thesciencetimes.com, when encountering environmental stress, damage, or threat “to protect themselves, plants employ numerous molecular responses. These chemical communications can be used to poison an enemy, alert the surrounding plants to potential dangers, or attract helpful insects to perform needed services.”

I’m going through growing pains. My business is outgrowing some of my clients. My expertise is outgrowing my rates. My patience is outgrowing my kindness.

I wish I could be like a plant and not have pain receptors when dealing with the pain of realizing I’m outgrowing some of some clients, having to say goodbye when good clients move away or worse when they pass away.  That’s the ecosystem when working with older gardeners.  I want to grow like my plants and use communications to shade business scammers, alert my clients to garden foolishness and attract clients that are more sustainable.
