POLITE GARDENS

A Half Summer Mood

Humidity and fatigue don’t mix. Heat indexes, then constant rain, then back to heat indexes. Thought summer was to end early then, surprise !!!. I can honestly say I’ve never had so many involuntary breaks. Thought I would feel a little better but my time became occupied with more people issues instead of plant issues.

It at times feels as if people are just giving me content to write about, without putting to much of their issues out there. But there is only so much one can take. It’s worst because normally I would go to the gardens to decompress, but it’s too hot to do that. I talk to friends and write thoughts down, study spiritually and horticultural, go down social media rabbit holes. So how do I compare this to gardening?

Maybe I can’t. Maybe I can’t find a comparison because I’m that fatigued. But I am writing without music playing, so let me turn some on and see if that makes a difference. I’m actually listening to a Song called “My Mood” by MFSB. It’s a jazzy, soul instrumental classic mix. It reminds of sometimes how at times I need to go back to basics.

Going back to basics is necessary in gardening sometimes. Dig up everything and rearrange, or only focus your attention on the plants that are the main foundations of the garden and let everything organically find their space. Realizing that at times the plants have to show you that they are willing to put forth the effort, instead of a plant just existing only due to constant maintenance. I think I need to do that with some of the humans in my life.
